The HP LaserJet Enterprise 6500dn / 6500n / 6501dn and the MFP 6600dn / Flow MFP 6600zfw are the fast end of HP's mono range: 55 ppm at 1,200 × 1,200 dpi, built for large workgroups and enterprises. At that speed a cartridge is not an accessory — it is the thing that decides how often somebody walks over to the printer.
HP offers three yields on the same cartridge shell. Our compatible versions match the original page ratings on all three.

In round terms: 160X is about 1.9× the 160A, and 160Y is about 3.6×. On a 55 ppm machine running a few thousand pages a month, that is the difference between changing the cartridge every fortnight and changing it twice a year.

W9088MC is a different machine family
The W9088MC managed cartridge is rated at 42,000 pages — matching the original — and it belongs to the X60257 / X60357 / MFP X62757 series, not the 6500 / 6600 family. Same brand, same mono look, different stock position.

If your customer says "the big one in the print room", confirm the model plate before quoting. 160Y and W9088MC are close in yield and completely different in fit.
Which yield should you stock?
- 160A — for price-led tenders and low-volume departments. Lowest ticket, fastest turnover, easiest first order.
- 160X — the sensible default. About double the pages, and the easiest upsell from 160A because the argument is arithmetic.
- 160Y — for enterprise and managed-print accounts where the buying criterion is interventions per year, not cartridge price.
- W9088MC — only for the X-series. Hold it if you have X60257 / X62757 customers; skip it if you do not.
What to check before you buy 160-series compatible
- Chip on install. Our build ships with a built-in chip, ready to fit — confirm any alternative does the same.
- Yield claim at the top end. The 160Y figure is where weak builds fall short; ours is 38,000, matching HP.
- Density stability late in the cartridge. On a 38,000-page cartridge, fade in the last third is what customers actually complain about.
- Patent position. Patented design, so marketplace listings are defensible.
