HP's spring 2026 commercial print launch gave the office printer market three new lines: the HP LaserJet Pro 4006 / 4007 / 4008 single-function printers, paired with the MFP 4112 / 4113 / 4114 multifunction models. Together they replace the predecessor W1480A / W1480X family — a million-unit-class compatible range that we know well from years of supply.
The new toner family: W1610 / W1620 / W1640
HP split the launch across three regional flavours, each with its own cartridge model line:
- W1610A (3,000 pages) / W1610X (10,000 pages) — for the 4006 / MFP 4112 line, shipped in NA, Australia, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.
- W1620A (3,000 pages) / W1620X (10,000 pages) — for the 4007 / MFP 4113 line, shipped in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
- W1640A (3,050 pages) / W1640X (10,050 pages) — for the 4008 / MFP 4114 line, shipped in Greater China and India.
Six SKUs total, each with an independent chip so the printer recognises the cartridge and the page counter behaves the same as the OEM. Standard yield (A) for distributed printing, extra-high yield (X) for busy offices that want to halve their cartridge change cycle.

Why this launch matters for distributors
A new HP commercial flagship is a multi-year compatible opportunity. The predecessor W1480A / W1480X reached million-unit-class volume before this replacement arrived, so the installed base for the W1610 / W1620 / W1640 family is only just starting. If you sell into small business and medium workgroup channels, this is the next plate you'll be filling.
The printer itself runs at 45 pages per minute, 1200 × 1200 DPI, with an 80,000-page monthly duty cycle — so it's positioned for the kind of offices that print a lot, where the cartridge cost-per-page is what matters.
